Sharon Rose Lee Patton (Tackett)

MARION: Sharon Rose Lee Patton-Tackett, age 71, of Marion, died peacefully on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family. On February 25, 1945, Sharon was born in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of Leo and Adeline (Jenkins) Patton. She graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1963. Shortly following graduation, Sharon married Phillip Tackett, on March 30, 1969. Together they had three children: Tammi, Terry and Tonya. After several years of marriage they were divorced yet remained friendly. Sharon along with Phillip and his wife enjoyed all of the holidays and special occasions together with their children and grandchildren. A dedicated worker, Sharon always worked two and three jobs at a time to make ends meet as a single mother of three. She worked for over fifteen years at Southtown Cleaning Village, and for over ten years as a cook at Tri-Rivers Career Center. The majority of her career was spent serving the Lord at the Salvation Army as an assistant manager and then as a sorter. She was there for over twenty five years. In addition to her time there, she also worked as a cashier at the Sav-a-Lot for nine years. A woman of faith, Sharon attended the Cardington Baptist Church and formerly was a member of the Lee Street Presbyterian Church in Marion. Over the years she volunteered for countless activities at the church, including several clothing drives. She also volunteered for several years as vice president of the PTA at Silver Street Elementary. Sharon was a selfless, generous, caring, outgoing woman with a golden heart. She sacrificed for her children her entire life and was her grandchildren's biggest fan. She loved to vacation, going to Indian Lake, attending country concerts and spending time with her Yorkie Poo, Molly Sue. Wherever she went, no stranger was found. She had a way about her that appealed to everyone she came across and all were welcomed with her warm spirit. She also cheered on her favorite sports teams; the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Indians and of course the Ohio State Buckeyes. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Tammi (Rob) Cowell, Terry (fiance Michelle Messenger) Tackett, and Tonya Boyd, all three of Marion; three grandchildren: Ashlee Stover, Colten Cowell and Brayden Boyd; two great-grandchildren: Hannah Cowell and Kaemen Haudenschield; siblings: Gloria (Vince) D'Addio of Brick, NJ, and John (Judy) Patton of Fort Wayne, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Including her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her grandson, Preston Cowell; and siblings: Leo Elias Patton, Beverly Patton and Alice Johnson. Her family will greet friends from 2PM to 5PM on Sunday October 2, 2016 at the Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 W. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will also be held there on Monday at 10:30AM with Pastor Matt Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Food Pantry, Central Ohio Association of Christian Broadcasters WXCBTV-45 or the Heartland Hospice.
